You can use the Insert menu to add some of the commonly used symbols, such as ©, ®, ™, the Euro symbol, section symbol, and paragraph symbol. For other symbols use the Microsoft Character Map, which is accessed from your Start button – Accessories – Character Map. Here are the keystrokes for some of the commonly used symbols:
- Copyright symbol ©: hold down ALT, and using the NUMERIC Keypad type 0169
- Registered trademark ®: hold down ALT, and using the NUMERIC Keypad type 0174
- Trademark symbol ™: hold down ALT, and using the NUMERIC Keypad type 0153
- Section symbol §: hold down ALT, and using the NUMERIC Keypad type 0167
- Paragraph sign ¶: hold down ALT, and using the NUMERIC Keypad type 0182
Note: your NUMERIC Keypad must be 'locked' for this to work; also the four digit number sequences above begin with the number zero, not the letter O.
You can't add a special symbol directly into a page name or menu heading. Instead, you must copy the symbol from text.
