Creating Student Accounts

This is the process for creating student accounts. Students are required to have the student auth code and a valid email address to get full access. Student level access is limited to the current law students at member law schools.

  1. Visit the CALI homepage. Follow the “Create new account” link.
  2. Enter username and email address.
    • Note that unlike the current system the student is free to select any username and is required to provide a valid working email address.
  3. Enter the school's authorization code.
    • This is the same authorization code that has been used for the past few years.
  4. Tab to the next field.
  5. Select a “Class of” designation.
  6. Enter first and last name in the form. Middle name is optional.
  7. Click the “Create new account” button.
  8. The student should see a message that says “Your password and further instructions have been sent to your e-mail address.”
  9. Students should visit the email address they used to activate their account.
    • The email provides a username/password combo and a link to login to the site. The link is the fastest way to get into the site.
  10. Once logged in for the first time, students should reset their password to one of their choosing.
