Webinar - Moving Law Schools Online (Sponsored by vLex Justis)

Monday, July 13, 2020 - 01:00

Legal educators and law librarians rose to the challenge in Spring 2020 with the dramatic shift mid-semester to remote teaching. As many law schools have announced an intent to stay partially or fully remote, and still others may announce plans to do the same, it’s time to move beyond “remote teaching” to true “online learning”.

Our expert speakers will discuss and debate the steps they’ve taken to support their professional colleagues and communities in this transition.

John will highlight the purpose, scope and experience of CALI’s highly subscribed instructional mini course (Preparing for the Future of Legal Education - Online Teaching Tips & Techniques) as well as the CALICON2020: LAW SCHOOL IN THE TIME OF PANDEMIC.

Ron will draw on his leadership in law librarianship, library management, teaching and research, from his current role at BU and past roles including AALL presidency, to provide insight into the needs, stresses and actions BU and other law schools are experiencing, and speak to the foundational elements that law school libraries need to get right in order to perform and deliver at the highest standards while supporting remotely.

John and Ron will also discuss the intersection between online teaching and resource access when the libraries and supporting professionals aren’t simply up or down a nearby stairwell.
