Susan Gualtier

Susan Gualtier is the Foreign, Comparative, and International Law Librarian at Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center Library. In addition to providing research assistance and reference services, Susan teaches first-year legal research classes, as well as a yearly seminar in foreign, comparative, and international legal research.

Prior to beginning her career as a law librarian, Susan practiced white collar and commercial litigation in New York, NY, and Washington, DC, and worked as an intern and later as an independent contract attorney for an in-house legal department in Florence, Italy. During law school, she traveled to Tanzania as a member of Georgetown’s International Women’s Human Rights Clinic to conduct a fact-finding mission and assist a Tanzanian NGO in drafting a human rights report and proposed bill relating to women’s inheritance rights.

Susan holds a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, a B.A. in history from Yale University, and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.  Her professional and academic interests include legal history, women’s human rights, customary and religious laws, mixed legal systems, and alternative dispute resolution.
