CALI DVDs

CALI DVD-RomEach Fall prior to the beginning of the new school year, CALI sends to every CALI member law schools DVD-Roms. CALI users can use the DVDs to install the entire library of CALI lessons to their computers. Law students who didn't get a DVD: ask your school's librarian for one.

Should you use the CALI Lessons on the DVDs or on cali.org?:

CALI is constantly adding new lessons and updating old ones. Since the DVDs do not reflect those changes, the online library of CALI Lessons is the most up-to-date. Make sure you register at cali.org using your school's authorization code so that you can use the online lessons. Here's an FAQ for students who need to register at cali.org.

So why send all of these DVDs?:

It may seem strange for us to send so many DVDs while touting the online lessons as the most up-to-date. Even the DVDs themselves are designed to encourage students to use the lessons at cali.org. But in our experience, the DVDs are our member schools' best, most cost-effective opportunity to introduce CALI to their students. Believe it or not, DVDs cost us less to produce than paper brochures. And they are actually useful at times when students might be without internet access (or on the extremely rare occasion when CALI might be without a reliable service provider for the site).

Recycling old DVDs:

If it is logistically impossible to hand out DVDs to all of your students, we will help your school recycle the leftovers. But we do ask that you make a real effort to hand them out and wait until Spring semester before you make the recycling request to Austin.
