Anatomy of a Case

This brief lesson will familiarize the student with the basic parts of a case (i.e., the written decision of a court) published in print and on Westlaw.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the lesson, the student will be able to:

1. Identify and explain the basic parts of a case in both print and online formats.
2. Understand Topic and Key Numbers including their use in finding similar cases.
