Author of the Week: Dean Lisa A. Goodman

Lisa A. Goodman is the Interim Assistant Dean for the Law Library & Information Technology Services at Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center Library, a position she has held since 2012. She was previously Head of Public Services at the Dee J. Kelly Law Library at Texas Wesleyan (now Texas A&M) University School of Law and before that an attorney with the Detroit firm of Dickinson Wright PLLC. She has taught both first-year and advanced legal research classes. Lisa holds a JD and MLIS from Wayne State University, a BS from Eastern Michigan University, and a BA from the University of Michigan.  She is active in the American Association of Law Libraries including service as the 2013-2014 CONELL Committee Chair and the 2015-2016 Black Caucus Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect.  She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan. 

Author of the Week: Professor Robin Craig

Robin Kundis Craig has been appointed to a National Research Council Committee on the Mississippi River and the Clean Water Act. She is the author of numerous articles on environmental law, most of which focus on water, the oceans, and the Clean Water Act. Thomason/West published her textbook on environmental law, Environmental Law in Context, in Spring 2005. Professor Craig is also the author of The Clean Water Act and the Constitution, published by the Environmental Law Institute in late 2004.

Author of the Week: Professor James C. Smith

James Charles Smith is the John Byrd Martin Professor of Law at the University of Georgia, where he has taught since 1985. He specializes in property, real estate transactions, and commercial law. He earned a bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College and a law degree from the University of Texas. After serving as law clerk for Judge Walter Ely of the Ninth Circuit, Smith practiced law for four years with the law firm of Baker Botts in Houston, Texas. From 1982 to 1985 he taught at the Ohio State University College of Law.

He is author of numerous articles and five books (Contracts and Conveyances of Real Property, Federal Taxation of Real Estate, Neighboring Property Owners, and two casebooks). An avid runner, Smith has participated in the Boston Marathon on five occasions between 1981 and 2002.

Author of the Week: Jesse Bowman

Jesse Bowman is the Electronic Research, Technology, and Instructional Services Librarian at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Valparaiso University, a Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law, and a Master of Library Science from Indiana University School of Library and Information Science. Prior to joining Northwestern in 2014, Jesse was the Digital Services Librarian at Valparaiso University School of Law.

Sales and Leases: A Problem-based Approach

Sales and Leases is a coursebook for a 3-credit course in personal property sales and leases – the subject matter of UCC Articles 2 and 2A. This is the Second Edition. Adjustments could be made for other credit allocations and chapters can be used on a stand-alone basis. The course is designed so that students both review the rules and principles they studied in their first-year course in Contracts and learn the rules that apply to the subset of contracts for the sale and lease of goods.

Author of the Week: Ronald E. Wheeler Jr.

Ronald Wheeler is the Director of the Fineman and Pappas Law Libraries at Boston University School of Law. He formerly held library director positions at Suffolk University Law School John Joseph Moakley Law Library and the University of San Francisco School of Law and associate directorships at the Georgia State University College of Law Library in Atlanta, GA., and at the University of New Mexico School of Law Library in Albuquerque, NM. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and his M.L.I.S. from Wayne State University. He has taught both first year legal research and advanced legal research courses. Ron has written numerous articles on legal research and law library management. Ron is active in the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) and is currently on their Executive Board, the Northern California Association of Law Libraries (NOCALL), and the Western Pacific Chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries (WestPac). He has held numerous elected offices and chaired several committees in the above mentioned organizations.

Author of the Week: Kerry Lohmeier

Kerry Lohmeier is the Head of Public Services at the James E. Faust Law Library, S.J. Quinney College of Law, where she has worked since 2015. She received her B.A. from Iowa State, her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, and her Masters in Information Science from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She teaches basic and advanced legal research. Before coming to Utah, Kerry worked as the Public Services Librarian at Concordia University School of Law in Boise, Idaho. 

Author of the Week: Mary Rumsey

Mary Rumsey is the reference and instructional services librarian at the Willamette University College of Law Library. She is a member of the CALI Editorial Board. She also is a member of the American Society of International Law, and the former chair of the Foreign, Comparative & International Law Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law Libraries. She has written extensively on library and legal research issues, with two of her publications receiving national awards.
Rumsey received her B.A. degree (with distinction) from the University of Wisconsin in 1981, a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1984, and an M.L.I.S. from Dominican University in 1998. She practiced law for two years and then worked for West Group in its Westlaw Research and Development department. Rumsey was the Electronic Services Librarian at the William Mitchell College of Law and then taught foreign and international legal research at the University of Minnesota Law Library from 2000 to 2014.

Author of the Week: Terrye Conroy

Terrye Conroy, J.D., M.L.I.S., is the Reference/Public Services Librarian for the Coleman Karesh Law Library at the University of South Carolina School of Law. She teaches first-year legal research and has taught advanced legal research for the law school and legal research and reference for the library school at the University of South Carolina. Ms. Conroy has presented programs on access to legal information and regularly conducts workshops on legal research for non-law librarians. She is active in AALL and has served as Chair of its Legal Information Services to the Public (LISP) special interest section.

Author of the Week: Professor Robert Lind

Robert Lind a Professor of Law at Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California, where he began teaching in 1981. Professor Lind teaches courses in Copyright Law, Trademark Law, Entertainment Law, Art and Museum Law, Defamation and Privacy Law, and Television Production Law.

He is the author or co-author of several books, chapters and articles, including: Entertainment Law: Legal Concepts and Business Practices (2d ed. 2003) (5 volume treatise published by West Group); Newsgathering and the Law (2d ed. 1999) (treatise published by Lexis Law Publishing); Entertainment Law (3d ed. 2003) (casebook published by Matthew Bender); Art and Museum Law (2002) (casebook published by Carolina Academic Press); Copyright Law 2002(2002) (substantive outline published by Carolina Academic Press) and Trademark Law 2002 (2002) (substantive outline published by Carolina Academic Press).

Professor Lind received his Bachelor of Elected Studies degree from the University of Minnesota (Summa Cum Laude), and received his Juris Doctor and Master of Laws degrees from The National Law Center of George Washington University (Highest Honors).
